No garante alcohol prices will go down, the ontario government will still impose taxes on it all the same. why introduce a middleman to make a profit on this?? LCBO is canadian owned pays their employees well, keeps alcohol overconsumption down, raises a shit load of money for the government that we do not have to pay in taxes. Buying alcohol is totally voluntary vs. taxes that are mandatory. Not to mention look at the states and all the mafia crap wrapped up in alcohol distribution?
tazdevilman1 Says:
Also the LCBO does purchase alcohol at a much lower price then everyone else and they are the largest purchaser of alcohol on the planet. I have worked at the warehouse in Oshawa and you would be amazed how colossally huge it is and how efficient it is. They should put a youtube vid of how it works and whatnot for the public to see and they have more video cameras then a casino.
tazdevilman1 Says:
the LCBO makes a ton of money that goes back into the government which means whatever money they make goes back into the same government you pay taxes to. Hence if we get rid of the LCBO's distribution they will still charge taxes on the booze and take the profits they are making from you in taxes. The LCBO posts there profits for everyone to see. Personally I would rather pay them when I buy a bottle of liquor then get rapped in taxes. Change the LCBO maybe remove them? Your nuts.

There are so many flaws with this party If you look at neo-liberal policies(privatization) The best represenative is USA There economy has sucked for 10yrs. Another axample is Iceland. Most Scandanavian countries are Keynesian(crown corporations), but Iceland also started to follow neo-liberral policies instead. Their economy was good while they sold everything off, but then they ran out of things to sell and in 2008, their dollars was valued at only half of its original value 1 year before

Don't think McGuinty wouldn't sell LCBO for 1/2 the value for hush money extortion as the worst per-capita murderous spirit. Almost 40,000 30 channel murders using 2 teams. That's murder-us for his position greed. The bulk of brain activated cell-phone WiFi activity is maintaining the spirit denial for dollars tyranny. My brother was murdered in a 70 channel murder with "Dalton" as the priest channel in the chest. The police have 100s of suicide notes that implicate Dalton. See my YouTube.
TheJugernaunt Says:
Ridiculous. I bet you will be the first to gain in this enterprise and that's why want that to happen. Billions of dollars are poured into the economy because of the LCBO. The Liberals just want to sell it so the books look good during their four years. They don't care who has to deal with the loss in revenue after. And you know what will happen when they lose that revenue..RAISE TAXES!

If the LCBO was run like a business maybe. However, the LCBO does not take advantage of their buying power to deliver a better end price. The real profits are chewed up by the corpulent bureaucracy that truly defines the LCBO. A monopoly of this type ensures a lack of competition thereby reducing the choices available to the consumer. That is an undeniable fact. It's time to move into the 21st century, it's time for private sales of alcohol.
apagoogoo Says:
i love the lcbo. it is, in fact, the world's single largest purchaser of alcohol, and as a result, it gets better prices on alcohol, as a buyer, than anyone else in the world. the reason prices are high is because of taxes, which would be just as high elsewhere if alcohol got sold in other stores. its policy regarding choice is that if there's something that's legally consumable and not available in their stores, you can custom order it. and i happen to like the idea of a profitable crown corp.
