I agree, Brazil 82 lost to Italy, who eventually won it. But no team has every played the game like Brazil 82. 1982 was just a very tough World Cup, including a young Maradonna for Argentina and Italy and Holland at their best. The team of Brazil 82 could have won any other world cup.

Look it up, the NBA tightened up many defensive rules during the late 80's and early 90's, a lot more fouls were called as a result of that, often stopping the game too much. many fans even went as far as calling it the death of basketball. To most football fans Brazil 1982 is the best side to ever play the game. They lost to Italy, who eventually won. But comparing 70 to 82, though Brazil 70 won it, no team has ever played football like Brazil 82.

Proof is, it didn't even win the cup...so by no means it can be compared to the Dream Team. On the contrary, it's well known that what is considered the best NT ever in football is 1970 Brazil...

LOL...defense during late 80's early 90's was the hardest in the history of the NBA...it wasn't as "stationary" as in the 70's, but it was much more physical. And you're even wrong on football. It's not 82 Brazil who's the greatest, but 70 Brazil....

Look my man, I'm not saying Jordan wasn't a great player, maybe the greatest (though I always thought Bird in his prime was the greatest), I'm merely saying the league got a lot stricter on defense during the late 80's, early 90's, this allowed players - more than at any other time - to run to the basket. I just don't think Jordan could have done what he did during the 70's or mid 80's.

Of course I appreciate old NBA. Bill Russel, Big O., Wilt, are you kidding me? But the fact I really don't like is that today's NBA doesn't have much to offer and there is no players who elevate the game.We have Durant,LBJ,Kobe etc but we have to ask ourselves one question:Are they really something we haven't seen before? No.And when it comes to NBA's elite, today nobody except maybe Kobe from the current league doesn't come even close to being considered the best or one of the best in anything.

If you look at their top tens you'd see about 4 people of the 70-80 era and 1 or 2 of the 50-60 era. They do appreciate the 'old and good' NBA. If you appreciate the good and old NBA you'd be naming NBA players of the fifties. And we must appreciate the good and old NBA. Because we won't have the league how it's today if there wasn't a good and old NBA.
